Kenyan athlete Robert Pkemoio has won the Transgrancanaria Marathon with a time of 3 hours, 25 minutes and 30 seconds on the finish line (03:25:30). He has become the first-ever African athlete to win a Transgrancanaria race throughout its 21 years of history.
Incredible performance for the Kenyan runner who reached the finish line eight minutes ahead of one of the favourites to win the race, swiss runner Roberto de Lorenzi (03:33:20), who was second on the final ranking. Finnish Juho Ylinen (03:34:19) got the bronze medal in this race which counts towards the Spartan Trail World Championship trophy.
Undisputed victory for Nuria Gil in women’s category. Gil reached the finish line with a time of four hours and eight minutes (04:08:00). The Spanish athlete reached the finish line ten minutes before Sweden’s Johanna Amströn (04:18:11). Gemma Arenas completed the podium with her third place in this female category (04:21:32).
