La scorsa domenica a Kamnik, sede dei campionati europei 2017 si è corsa la Grintovec Mountain Race. La gara quest’anno è tornata al percorso originale che ha portato gli atleti in soli 10km di gara, dai 600 metri della partenza alla vetta posta a 2552 metri. Le condizioni di elevata umidità e caldo afoso non hanno permesso ai vincitori di segnare nuovi record. In campo maschile si è imposto lo specialista dei vertical Nejc Kuhar che supera di una manciata di secondi il giovane Mihelic Luka, mentre al terzo posto si piazza Becan Timotej. Migliore degli italiani al via è il friulano Giuseppe Della Mea (Aldo Modo) che si piazza al tredicesimo posto.
In campo femminile ottima prova per Koligar Mojca che stacca di quasi 5′ la seconda classificata Trunkelj Barbara, chiude il podio la croata Belusic Barbara. L’appuntamento è rimandato al 2019 quando la manifestazione festeggerà la ventesima edizione!

The 19th edition of the Grintovec Run was held today in Kamnik/SLO. Nejc KUHAR and Mojca KOLIGAR, both Slovenian MR team members, wan the race. Hot weather with high humidity in the Kamniska valley at 600m and runners more friendly conditions in the upper part with the summit at 2552m did not allow record times. Nejc Kuhar was 5 minutes slower from his Slovenian course record, set in 2015. More than 200 runners from 12 countries participated the event.
This extreme Mountain running race, where in only 10km runners have to beat almost 2000m elevation gain, was also a part of the MR World Cup for several times. The neighboring Velika Planina, with the same LOC chaired by Dušan Papež, hosted the World Championships in 2010 and European Championships in 2017.
Next year, the event is celebrating it’s 20th anniversary.
