Malonno (BS) 26 luglio 2018 – Forse era lecito attenderselo, visto che ha vinto la prima prova del circuito di world cup 2018 (sito ufficiale world cup), ma la notizia è di quelle che non possono passare inosservate, perché la piccola Malonno a stento potrà contenere la grandezza di questa atleta che della corsa in montagna cosi cara ai Malonnesi è la vera icona vivente.
Ufficiale dunque, l’austriaca Andrea Mayr sarà al via del PizTriVertikal, in programma sabato 4 Agosto nel paese della corsa in montagna.
Classe 1979, 6 volte campione del mondo di Mountain Running Classico, 4 volte Campione d’Europa di Mountain Running Classico, Detiene il primato del mondo di Km Verticale senza ausilio di bastoni stabilito lo scorso anno alla Chiavenna-Lagunc con il crono di 35’54”.
In carriera ha vinto 8 volte la Hochfelln di Bergen, più volte il Grossglockner, Telfes, Bludenz, la Smarna Gora, ha vinto la Jungfrau, ha vinto sul Taipei101, ha vinto oltre 40 titoli nazionali austriaci tra pista, strada, montagna e cross, ha partecipato due volte ai Campionati del Mondo di Atletica Leggera nella specialità dei 3000 siepi, dulcis in fundo: ha corso per due volte la Maratona Olimpica, nel 2012 a londra (54^) e nel 2016 a Rio de Janeiro (64^). I suoi personali dicono 33’35” nei 10’000, 1h11’49” nella mezza, 2h30’43” nella maratona.

Ma la grandezza di questo autentico capolavoro della natura sta soprattutto nella grinta, nella passione e nella serietà con cui si prepara e compete. Un mostro di concentrazione, sangue freddo, killer instinct sportivo che le hanno fatto superare qualsiasi tipo di ostacolo, infortunio, avversaria, difficoltà tecnica.
Da sempre criticata dagli esteti per la sua corsa non certo aggraziata ha continuato a macinare risultati anno dopo anno (oltre agli ori ha firmato anche piazzamenti da podio a ripetizione sia agli europei che ai mondiali, l’ultimo a Premana dove fu argento quando tutti la davano per finita) e non si è fatta mancare nemmeno vittorie e soddisfazioni in altre specialità: campionessa austriaca di ciclismo in montagna nel 2004, 2006 e 2013, Campione ‘Europa nel Duathlon corto nel 2014 e nel 2017 si è messa gli sci e le pelli per andare a prendersi anche il titolo mondiale di vertical nello ski-alp.

Averla in Italia rappresenta una vera rarità, lei che nel bel paese ci è venuta per prendersi due titoli mondiali (a Casette di Massa nel 2014 ed al Tonale, indimenticabile, nel 2012), l’argento di Premana ed il record di Chiavenna. Per la piazza di Malonno un colpo storico, qui sui sentieri dove sono già passati Felter, Pezzoli, Vallicella, Demadonna, Bordin, Molinari, Milesi, Fregona, Bonzi, De Gasperi, Dematteis, Mamu, Douglas, Kosoveli, Krupicka, Chevrier, Rancon, Puppi, Belotti, Desco, Gaggi, Roberti, Rota Gelpi e tanti altri grandissimi campioni non poteva mancare lei, la più grande Mountain Runner donna di tutti i tempi, e sfidiamo davvero stavolta, dati alla mano, a contestare questa affermazione.
Ok Mayr, ma che Gara !
Mayr al centro della scena ma ci sarà una gara vera da correre: 3,49 km e 1000 metri D+ su strade bianche, sentieri, pascoli ed il muro finale che porta alla malga Campel (1820 mslm). Ad aspettarla per dar fondo a tutte le energie ci saranno una schiera di avversarie di altissimo livello oltre ad una gara maschile anche lei tutta da seguire.
Potrebbe riproporsi il duello che ha fatto la storia della disciplina negli ultimi 15 anni, quello con l’amica nemica Valentina Belotti che del Piz-Tri detiene il record (40’36” stabilito nel 2016) e che tante medaglie d’argento ha colto dietro all’austriaca. Qui tra le sue montagne e tra i suoi tifosi potrebbe cercare quella vendetta sportiva che in ogni caso non muterebbe di un centimetro la carriera di un’altra grande campionessa che tutto il mondo del mountain-running ci invidia.

it’s now Official: the Austrian Andrea Mayr will be at the start of the PizTriVertikal, scheduled for Saturday, August 4 in the “country of mountain running”.
Born 1979, 6 times world champion of Classic Mountain Running, 4 times European Champion of Classic Mountain Running, she holds the World Best Time on Vertical Km without the use of sticks established last year at Chiavenna-Lagunc (FIDAL Homologated) with the final crono of 35 ‘ 54 “.

But the greatness of this authentic masterpiece of nature lies above all in the determination, passion and seriousness with which she prepares and competes. A monster of concentration, cold blood, killer instinct that have overcome any type of obstacle, injury, adversary, technical difficulty.
Always criticized by the aesthetes for its race certainly not graceful, she continued to grind results year after year (in addition to the gold she also signed podium many times both in the European and in the world championships, the last in Premana where she was silver when too many people said she was at the end of her career) and did not miss even victories and satisfactions in other specialties: Austrian mountain biking champion in 2004, 2006 and 2013, Champion of Europe in short duathlon in 2014 and in 2017 she took the skis and skins to take also the world title of vertical in the ski-alp.
